. >> the fema application scam, what's that? >> well, there may be some people who say i can do the fema application for you, pay me a fee, i'll fill out all the paperwork for you. you do not need to do that, you can contact fema directly, and that's what you should do. >> a bogus charity scam. >> that's a huge one. looking at the devastation, you want to help in some way, but be very careful the charity you're donating to is legitimate. check the irs website, make sure it's something that actually is going to help the victims. and that e-mail, whether you're getting social media, sometimes getting these unsolicited pleas for help, that is a sign it may not be a legitimate -- >> this is surprising, you say identity theft tends to go up in these times? >> well, spam, a lot of spam is happening. fishing scams and all of those types of scams can come up. so a lot of people are saying look carefully at the e-mails you're getting. don't just open it because, again, pulling on the heart strings, be careful. >> bottom line, with the co
